Why specify the Hinged Security Doors

01

Three hinges and three-point locking

Every Invisi-Gard hinged door hangs on three hinges rather than two, which spreads the load across the stile so the door does not drop out of square and start catching after a few summers. The lock throws bolts at the top, the middle and the bottom in a single turn. A central lock on its own leaves both corners free to lever, and that is exactly where a jemmy bar goes first. Alspec specifies both as standard on every Invisi-Gard door.

02

Tested to AS5041, all three tests

AS5041-2003 is the Australian standard for security screen doors and window grilles, and it puts three separate attacks on the product: a dynamic impact test, a jemmy test and a knife shear test. Every system we fit has passed all three. Worth asking any other supplier which standard and which tests, because "meets Australian Standards" on its own tells you nothing about what was actually tested.

03

Made to measure, and backed for years

Nothing is cut down from a stock size. Send your opening measurements, including anything odd about the reveal, and the door is fabricated to suit. Alu-Gard and Alu-Gard Edge carry seven years from Alspec, Invisi-Gard carries a lifetime warranty, and Bellano warrants its own installation work for ten years on top of that. The manufacturer stands behind the product, we stand behind the fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Look at where you live first. Within a few streets of the water, Invisi-Gard: the 316 stainless is marine grade and its patented pressure retention holds the mesh with no screws at all, so the stainless never touches the aluminium frame and there is no dissimilar metal contact for salt air to work on. Inland, Alu-Gard does the same security job for less, with the perforated sheet riveted into the frame. Alu-Gard Edge sits between them, same sheet but pressure-fitted instead of riveted, so nothing shows on the face. On a front door people look at every day, that finish is usually worth the difference.

Almost always. Hinged security doors are fabricated to the opening, not cut down from a stock size, so an out-of-square reveal or an odd width is a measuring job rather than a problem. Send the opening measurements and a photo of the existing frame and we will tell you straight away if anything needs special handling.

Outward, on most installations, so it does not fight the entry door behind it and so pressure from outside pushes the door into its stops rather than away from them. Site conditions occasionally say otherwise, which is why we ask. Tell us which side you want the hinges on when you send the sizes and we will confirm the swing on measure.

Yes, and better than most people expect. Invisi-Gard mesh is woven fine enough that it reads as a faint shadow over the view rather than a barrier. The perforated aluminium runs 40% open area, so light and air still come through. From inside a room, standing back from the door, it mostly disappears. Standing right against it you will see it, and any supplier claiming otherwise is overselling.

Warm water, a soft brush and a mild detergent, then rinse well with fresh water so no detergent residue dries on the mesh. Nothing abrasive and no strong detergents, both can scratch or damage the finish. How often depends on where you are: inland sites stretch past twenty weeks between washes, moderate sites sit near ten, and marine or severe marine sites want attention every few weeks. Salt is the variable, not dirt.

Up to a point that depends on the system. Alu-Gard and Alu-Gard Edge meet bushfire requirements up to BAL-29 on the strength of the 2mm hole diameter. Invisi-Gard is rated from BAL-LOW through to BAL-40. Alu-Gard also carries a fire attenuation result the others do not: up to 56% at 40kW/m2 incident energy under AS1530.4-2014 Appendix B7, tested on the riveted version. Check your BAL assessment before ordering, because above BAL-29 the aluminium systems are out.

Both. Say which you want in your enquiry. Supply only is fine if you have your own trades, though note the ten year workmanship warranty only applies where we have done the fitting.

Yes. We measure and install right across Cairns, including Edge Hill, Whitfield, Freshwater and Stratford. Front entries usually need a proper measure on site, so send a photo of the opening with your sizes and we will book a time.
