That is the whole point of the product. The security door runs in its own track alongside the glass, so you can leave the sliding glass door wide open through summer for the airflow and still have a tested barrier across the opening. Ventilation without the trade-off, which is why these end up on almost every patio run in the country. Available in perforated aluminium at 40% open area or in fine woven 316 stainless, so airflow survives either way.
Dynamic impact, jemmy and knife shear, the three tests that make up AS5041-2003. A sliding security door is built from the same systems, in the same extruded aluminium frames, with the same infill, and it is tested exactly the same way. You are not trading security for the convenience of a slider. The three-point locking and three-hinge build we quote on hinged doors are specific to that door type, but the mesh, the frame and the standard are identical.
Sliding openings are where stock sizes fall apart. Patio runs get widened, tracks get replaced, reveals end up out of square. Every door is fabricated to your measurements, so a non-standard opening costs you nothing in compromise. Send the opening width and a photo of the existing track and we will tell you straight away whether anything needs special handling.
Give us your opening sizes and finish preferences and we’ll come back with a tailored quote — usually within two business days.

Nearly always. These are made to the opening rather than to a stock size, so an odd width or a non-standard track is not a dealbreaker. What we need is the opening measurement and a photo of the existing track. Reveals that are out of square happen constantly and they are a measuring job, not a reason to say no.
Yes, on the tests that matter. Both are built from the same systems, in the same aluminium frames, with the same infill, and both pass the same AS5041 dynamic impact, jemmy and knife shear tests. The three-point locking and three-hinge build described on our hinged doors are specific to that door type, but the mesh, the frame and the standard are identical.
Usually, and wide openings are common on patio runs. Very wide spans may be built as more than one panel, which we will tell you when we quote rather than after. Send the total opening width and we will spec it.
Send us a photo of the existing threshold when you enquire. Track arrangement depends on what is already there and what the glass door runs in, so it is a site question rather than a product one, and we would rather look at it than guess.
A security door in perforated aluminium or fine stainless mesh stops most insects on its own, because the apertures are small. If sandflies or midges are the actual problem, that needs a finer weave than any security mesh runs, and the honest answer is a flyscreen door as well or instead. Tell us which is bothering you.
Up to a point that depends on the system. Alu-Gard and Alu-Gard Edge meet bushfire requirements up to BAL-29, on the strength of the 2mm hole diameter. Invisi-Gard is rated from BAL-LOW through to BAL-40. Alu-Gard also carries a fire attenuation result the others do not: up to 56% at 40kW/m2 incident energy under AS1530.4-2014 Appendix B7. Check your BAL assessment before ordering, because above BAL-29 the aluminium systems are out.
Seven years on Alu-Gard and Alu-Gard Edge, lifetime on Invisi-Gard, both from Alspec. Bellano covers its own installation work for ten years on top of that. The manufacturer stands behind the product, we stand behind the fitting.
Yes, and sliding openings are worth measuring in person because tracks vary. We cover Cairns and the surrounding suburbs, Redlynch, Brinsmead, Kanimbla and Smithfield included. Send the opening width and a photo of the existing track to start.
